Background
Lisa has 15+ years of experience conducting geospatial analyses of natural resources to develop and analyze data and information for support of ecosystem management and research.
Prior to joining the Aldo Leopold Wilderness Research Institute, Lisa specialized in GIS mapping and doing fire research and modeling in the Fire, Fuel, and Smoke Program at the Fire Sciences Lab in Missoula, MT. She has also worked in mapping and modeling vegetation and fire for the LANDFIRE project at the Fire Sciences Lab.
Before her work at the fire lab, she worked for the National Marine Fisheries Service in Washington and California doing research and management for the recovery of endangered salmon populations.
Research Projects
- Exploring past and current climate space of major vegetation types in the western U.S.
- Mapping current fire regimes and projected future regimes under climate change
- Developing management guidelines for creating resilient whitebark pine ecosystems in the northern Rocky Mountains using spatial simulation modeling
- Developing fire risk maps for the Rio Grande river system for present and projected climate changes
